The Caruba Hot Shoe Hood Canon Type 2 is designed for Canon cameras with a standard hot shoe.
Your built in flash can be used without the hot shoe cover. The only time you will remove it is for the external flash.
The hot shoe also protects the camera's flash contacts from rain and dust, preventing the flash from snagging when you remove it from your pocket. Most existing hot shoe covers on the market do not support the pop up flash function. This specially designed hot shoe cover helps to solve this problem.
When the user slides the hot shoe cover over the hot shoe connector, the built in sensor is disabled and the pop up flash will not respond.,
