Think Tank TurnStyle V3 for city and travel photography
When exploring a city, you often need just a camera, a few lenses and a way to reach them quickly. Think Tank TurnStyle V3 is built around a simple idea: carry the bag on your back, then swing it round to the front when you want to shoot. The third generation adds redesigned shoulder strap attachment points, a tuck-away water bottle pocket, and new materials and colours. You can choose from three sizes: 5, 8 and 11 litres.
Access your camera without taking the bag off
TurnStyle is a camera sling bag with a single shoulder strap worn across the body. It stays on your back while you move; when you need to take out your camera or change a lens, simply swing it round to the front. The wide-opening main compartment gives you access to your gear, while adjustable padded dividers let you arrange the space to suit your kit.
We think this approach makes the most sense for street photography, day trips and travel. If you frequently alternate between walking and shooting, being able to open the bag while wearing it can save you from repeatedly taking it off and finding somewhere to put it down.
What the third generation brings
Quick rotation, adjustable dividers and a rain cover were already part of the TurnStyle design. V2 also included a stabiliser strap. The new generation builds on this proven concept, refining details that make a difference in everyday use. Key changes include pivoting shoulder strap attachment points, which make it easier to swing the bag round. The strap also has a mounting point for a camera clip. Another new feature is the tuck-away water bottle pocket: when you do not need it, it stays folded away. Top and side grab handles make the bag easier to handle when carrying it or putting it away.
Strap and support on the move
The wide, foam-padded shoulder strap spreads the load over a larger area. The back panel combines padding with breathable mesh, while a tuck-away stabiliser strap with a buckle helps keep the bag close to your body during active shooting. Loose shoulder strap ends can be secured with hook-and-loop fasteners. When choosing a bag, we would still take the weight of your entire kit into account. A single shoulder strap suits a smaller kit and frequent access to your gear; for carrying heavy equipment over longer periods, we would also recommend considering a backpack with two shoulder straps.
A place for your gear and small essentials
Alongside the camera compartment, you will find a separate padded tablet pocket. The manufacturer lists the 5L and 8L models as suitable for an iPad mini, while the largest 11L also accommodates an iPad Pro 11. The front pocket includes an internal zipped pocket and a key tether.
Which TurnStyle V3 size should you choose?
For all three sizes, the manufacturer gives an approximate capacity of one camera body without a battery grip and two to three lenses. Lens size matters, however: a few small prime lenses take up a different amount of space from fast zoom lenses. Be sure to check the camera compartment dimensions when choosing your bag.
TurnStyle 5L for a compact kit
The smallest version is designed for compact mirrorless cameras and fixed-lens cameras. Think Tank specifies room for one body without a grip and two to three lenses, or one to two small zoom lenses. It is the first size we would consider if you want to take just your essential kit on a walk or a short trip.
TurnStyle 8L for a larger everyday kit
The mid-sized model has a wider and deeper camera compartment than the 5L. The manufacturer recommends it for medium-sized mirrorless kits and lists a capacity of one body without a grip and two to three lenses, including one to two zoom lenses. We think it is worth considering if lens size is the main limitation of a smaller bag.
TurnStyle 11L for a kit with a telephoto zoom
The largest version offers the most spacious camera compartment and a pocket for a larger tablet. The manufacturer specifically states that it can hold a camera with a 70–200 mm f/2.8 lens attached, positioned horizontally. This is an important distinction when choosing a bag for a longer lens. Always compare your particular kit with the internal dimensions, especially if you use a larger camera body or a lens hood.
See the dimensions table below – dimensions are listed as width × height × depth; the tablet pocket measurements are width × height. All figures come from the manufacturer's specifications.

Materials and protection from rain
V3 uses recycled, bluesign-certified fabrics and a PFAS-free water-repellent treatment. The specifications include 600D and 300D polyester fabrics. A seam-sealed rain cover is included and stored in its own pocket; the bag uses YKK RC Fuse zips. In wet weather, we would use the supplied rain cover. A water-repellent surface treatment alone does not mean the entire bag is waterproof.
Four colour options
The range is available in Asphalt Black, Greenway, Golden Hour and Urban Rust. Alongside black, you can choose green, yellow or rust orange.
Choose your TurnStyle to suit your kit
We would recommend considering TurnStyle V3 if you frequently move around while shooting and want to keep a smaller kit close at hand. Start with the camera and lenses you actually carry, then use their dimensions to choose the right size.
